INTERSECTING LEARNING + MAKING
In July of 2021, the town of Greenville, California suffered great damage and loss as a result of the Dixie Fire. The forest fire caused the destruction of most of the town and loss of infrastructure which held the community together. In response to this incident, The California College of the Arts began a collaborative studio initiative with the Dixie Fire Collaborative to rebuild and repair the town with the goal to restore the community spirit that Greenville is known for. Intersecting Learning and Making serves as a space for both learning and working. It functions as a space to learn entry-level skills in crafting, general carpentry skills, and advanced trade skills for future employment, empowering the Greenville community with essential skills, fostering local economic recovery, and contributing to the rebuilding of the town.
